Porto Top in Red Silk Noil

Dear Friends,

As summer nears we dream of travels and adventures.  The days grow long and anything seems possible.  For some of us, that may be exploring a new city with friends, or relaxing by the sea with family.  Others may be flying to far away lands and sailing into distant Ports.  Wherever your summer takes you, our Porto Top is the perfect travel companion.

This fitted number is rich with details.  It works well as a shirt and doubles as a lightweight jacket over a tank or t-shirt.  The mandarin collar curves around the neckline with delicate frayed edges which continue down the front.  These double stitched frays also go around the cuffs and across the back yoke.  It has a hidden front zipper and two snaps.  Each of the three colorways has a contrast waistband.  This top pairs particularly well with our Cascade skirt.

To try on the Porto Top in one of our 8 sizes, make an appointment anytime, or visit us at our Open House 1-5 pm on May 3rd in the American Steel Studios in West Oakland. (1960 Mandela Parkway, Oakland, CA 94607)

Bon Voyage,
Bree and Kyra

Show a little leg!

Cascade Skirt

Dear Friends,

Torrential style is in the offering with this week’s release, the Cascade Skirt!

We’re excited for the change of season and an occasion to mix up our wardrobe with a few new pieces.  Aren’t your legs craving a little fresh air?

This flirty number wants to be taken for a walk at Lake Merritt, for oysters at Jack London Square, and certainly for an evening tango dancing.  It has a fitted waist and hip, while the bias panels and flared hem allow for a full range of motion on the dance floor.

It is available in two fully lined colorways.  The first is a show stopping deep red silk.  The second is a breezy hemp/organic cotton stripe.  Consider wearing organic cotton, it’s a better choice for so many reasons.  Want to learn more, we’d love to chat at our Open House on May 3rd.  See below for details.

Have a bright week,
Kyra and Bree

Today we bring big news.  This is the official launch of our Message in a Bottle Collection!

This season we offer a new garment each week beginning today with the Horizon Dress (link).  It tells a story of soft and luscious fabrics and an elegant, graceful ease.  It truly does dress up and down, taking you to work, a party, a lakeside stroll, or any other adventure.  It flatters a variety of figures, and is available in three individual color ways.

Vermeulen produces in small quantities and offers both immediate sales and made-to-order garments, making each style a unique and special addition to your wardrobe.

We offer free shipping on all orders (and return shipping if needed).  To celebrate with us and try the garments on in person, join us in studio for the May launch party:

Sunday May 3rd, 1-5pm
American Steel Studios
1960 Mandela Pkwy.
Oakland, CA 94607

Behind the scenes:
We photographed the collection in the historic Berkeley City Club, designed by local girl Julia Morgan.  She was the first woman admitted to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris where she received her Master's Degree in Architecture, and the first licensed woman architect in California. What a hero!
The Berkeley City Club was entirely financed by Berkeley women and was originally a women's only clubhouse.  She designed every fixture and decoration in the building, including the china!  At Vermeulen & Co., we appreciate her sharp attention to detail.
