Mercury Vest

Mercury is the only metallic element that is liquid at room temperature.  There are also unique properties to our Mercury Vest.  It has the styling of a traditional men’s vest in a wool flannel chalk stripe, yet sports an ultra feminine fit.  The buttons sit in beautiful asymmetrical handsewn bound buttonholes.  The black cotton back has 5% stretch to move with you comfortably.  The front pockets will carry your small treasures and a handsome pocket square.

Vests add panache to any outfit.  This one is divine!

Black Magic Top

Here at Vermeulen, we love seeking out beautiful natural fibers.  We recently found a wool we couldn’t resist and wanted to share a few of its qualities.  Wool insulates the body, keeping the wearer warm in cool weather and cool in warm weather.  It naturally wicks moisture, it moves with the body and is extremely durable and long lasting.  It is both antimicrobial and fire resistant.  In a sense, it is a magical fabric.

Using the soft American milled wool knit we discovered, we’ve created the Black Magic Top.  Mixed with a Japanese ribbed wool blend neckband and ¾ length sleeves, the top is as versatile as the fabric.  It will be your go-to all winter, well into spring, and beyond.  Sewn in California as always.

Available in sizes XS - XL, you can order yours today here:

What a summer we've had!  It has been a season of adventure and enchantment.  We've built a 30ft tall fairytale boot, taught swing dancing in the forest, explored the romantically lush landscapes of Scotland and enjoyed time with dear friends.
We are thoroughly thankful for the whole lot of it.

Amidst all of this excitement, we've also been busy working on fun new designs at Vermeulen & Co. and are ready to share them with all of you.
The magic of the last few months has inspired our new Ethos of Alchemy collection.  The offerings include soft tops, a warm and unique coat, sensual dresses, an o-so-sharp vest and more.

Come see for yourselves!  We're having an open house at our American Steel studio (1960 Mandela Parkway, Oakland, 94607) on Saturday October 17th from Noon-4pm.

Come by and share stories of your summer while perusing our locally made goods.  Nibbles and drinks provided.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Bree and Kyra,
Vermeulen & Co.

P.S.  Can't make it on the 17th?  Swing by our studio on the First Tuesday in November and December, 4-7pm.  Text (510) 788-0560 and we'll collect you from the Poplar Gallery gate.

Fashion Film

Posted on August 26, 2015 by Miss Kyra | 0 Comments

Here at the Vermeulen & Co. workshop we enjoy creating sculptural, wearable, sophisticated forms with textiles.

Several months ago we had the pleasure of creating in a different medium. Teaming up with the sharp eye of filmmaker Claudia Escobar and the quick wit of Heather Smith we made a short fashion film starring the vibrant Imogen Spear. It couldn't have been more fun!

Please join us in toasting the launch of our film, "Message in a Bottle," where we celebrate the beautiful City by the Bay and several of our favorite Vermeulen & Co. pieces. (In fact, all of the pieces the heroine wears are Vermeulen!).

Yours in Celluloid and Silk,
Kyra and Bree

Marine Cowl Top
Photography: Becca Henry, Model: Anastasia Bachykala, Makeup: Vanessa Castro

Dear Friends,

It has been such a pleasure sharing new garments with you every week for the last several months.  Let us know if you’ve enjoyed it too.  We look forward to showing off the Message in a Bottle collection with many of you in person this Sunday.  Our garments are enhanced by a tactile experience, making them practically irresistible.  Be warned.

And now, without further ado, we present the final piece of the season: The Marine Cowl.  This sophisticated top boasts a very full and perfectly draped cowl neck which neatly snaps in the back.  The striped fabric is cut on the bias for comfort and ease of fit.  When worn with a pair of black trousers or skirt, you achieve the look of endless legs.  This is particularly true with our black Boardwalk Trousers.  They were made to be together.  This top is the embodiment of elegant dressing made comfortable and easy.  We hope you can’t resist!

This is a piece we’re crowd sourcing.  If we receive just 5 orders, we’ll make them for you.  Please place orders by May 25th.

Don’t keep us a secret,
Bree and Kyra
